  • For close to 100 years, The Community House of Moorestown has served as a community hub and gathering place. Generations of memories have been made with the Community House as the backdrop. We see this initiative as a continuation of this history, with the microbrewery serving as a place for people to gather and share memories – all while supporting community education and career development.

  • Since 1926, the Community House’s mission has been to support nonprofits in our area, and to offer a gathering place for our community. This project fits perfectly within those guidelines – bringing an economic boost to Main Street, while fortifying the historic Community House and providing a great new community resource. The Community House serves only as the landlord of the microbrewery – the license to own and operate the microbrewery will belong to Kings Road Brewing Company.

  • In 2011, voters first approved the sale of alcoholic drinks in the area of the Moorestown Mall. Then in 2021, Town Council unanimously approved an ordinance to permit breweries, distilleries and winery salerooms in Moorestown. Microbreweries have driven community excitement and engagement in the surrounding area, including Haddonfield, Medford and Collingswood.

  • The Township of Moorestown passed an ordinance in 2021 with the intention of enticing craft breweries, tasting rooms and distilleries to Main Street as potential economic engines. Haddonfield, Medford and Collingswood have all benefited from similar initiatives and we are confident this project will become the start of what we all envision our Main Street to be.

  • In a study published in 2022 by the Brewers Association, the craft brewing industry contributed nearly $72.2 billion to the U.S. Economy and created nearly 460,000 jobs.

  • Microbreweries are all about size and production – a microbrewery produces no more than 15,000 barrels of beer a year, as opposed to a larger production facility.

  • Yes! Please visit any of our many wonderful Moorestown restaurants and bring a snack or a meal to the microbrewery.

  • This will be New Jersey’s first educational-based brewery. The Community House will partner with Rowan College at Burlington County (RCBC), which is developing new curriculum in craft brewing.

  • The college is working to establish an associate degree in craft brewing to begin in fall 2025 that will focus on four key content areas:

    • Brewing, operations, production, quality control, and sanitation and safety

    • Biochemistry and microbiology

    • Business, marketing and accounting

    • Brewing operation internship

The college plans to establish a certificate program available in fall 2024 that would allow students to complete certain general education requirements before the associate degree program has been approved.

  • Courses will begin as soon as fall 2025.

  • There are no specific credentials required for this program. Students who have already completed certain math and science courses may be further along and be able to complete it more quickly.

  • No. King’s Road Brewing Company will be the operator of the brewery and tasting room, ensuring the level of quality they bring to their existing locations in Haddonfield and Medford. Students will receive hands-on experience working with King’s Road brewers and learn the ins and outs of the business of craft brewing.

  • The Community House board and leadership will be fundraising to support the microbrewery concept and they will also have to meet conditions set forth by the Township and New Jersey’s Alcoholic Beverage Control board before opening. The board and leadership are optimistic they will meet these goals and assuming they do, plans call for the microbrewery to be finished and ready to open by late 2025 or early 2026. The public will be kept informed of the timeline via a website that has been created to support the project.

  • Events at the Community House are critically important to our current and future financial wellbeing. We will keep our clients well informed as plans develop and will do everything possible to avoid and minimize any potential event disruptions.

  • Yes. The brewery will become a lively and communal enhancement to our venue. Proper precautions will be in place to ensure the enjoyment of both brewery patrons and guests of our other rental spaces.

  • As plans for the microbrewery take shape, our neighbors will be top of mind. We will abide by all Township rules concerning parking.

  • As our plans progress, we will be mindful and respectful of our neighbors, and we greatly value their input and feedback. The Township ordinance allowing a microbrewery in town identifies strict operating compliance procedures and guidelines, and we will comply with all of them. In general, however, breweries tend to keep shorter hours than a traditional bar, most closing around 10 p.m., and their focus is more about building community while enjoying a good, hand-crafted beer with friends and neighbors.
